Homeless teens
According to the US Dept. of Health &Human Services, about 63% of youth suicides come from a home where there is lack of father. Teen suicide is a problem. However the chance of that happening is more likely when they live with single mother. It is a great challenge for single mothers to bring up the child on their own.
Most of these young pregnant teens come from homes where father is not present. Around ninety per cent of all homeless and runaway children are from fatherless homes. About 85% of the youth sitting in prison come from a fatherless home.
In many cases, the mother feels that she can take revenge on the father by denying them the opportunity to visit their children. Mothers may be angry but they cooperate for their children. According to some 500 women in a survey by Red Book Magazine in 1994, just 11% of the mothers value their husbands' input. This is in the case when it comes to handling some crucial problems with kids. Some mothers think only they can be successful in aiding their child. About only 16 % of the women surveyed valued the advice of close friends and even relatives. It takes a community to raise a child is a very perfect adage. It is very pertinent to the realities today. It is not the sole responsibility of the mother to raise the child but even a father and the whole society including relatives and friends go a long way in shaping the future of teens.
Parenting is one the most important job. As an adult, you need to be careful in dealing with this. For homeless teens, there are some important things which they need to remember. If you are a runaway in a country like the United States, you will not have the rghts to work. You will be in a position of artificial dependency. You will also be inexperience and will face physical awkwardness.
As homeless teenager, you will resort to seeking charity, thievery, drug trafficking, or prostitution. This is not an acceptable lifestyle. You may decide to do one of them as homeless teens.This should make you a beggar, a thief, a drug dealer or a prostitute. You must address your problems and be more independent that taking refuge in such practices. You can consider tent while living at campsites or national parks. You can keep yourself warm by layers of clothing. If the night is too cold, you can eat some butter or margarine. This is how explorers keep themselves warm in Antarctica. You need to understand that you will be exploited, stolen and also be victimized. You should try to seek peace with reality and not take revenge on anyone.
