Eating disorders today affect many people throughout the world. There are many people who die from the disease. Eating disorders are actually nothing but diseases itself. This starts affecting the mind. This also leads to tricking the individual into thinking that they have to take steps to change their food habits and thus their appearance. The person can then take some action. They resort to binge eating and they do this by starving themselves, or by purging.
One of the eating disorder is anorexia. People who suffer from that stop eating to get perfection in body and want to look thin. They are more scared of putting on weight and are very conscious about it. They start believing that they are overweight. They even have the fear of becoming obese. This happens though their body weight and height are proportional. Anorexia happens in adolescence. This more so happens when the girl is on the stage of puberty. The person who suffers from anorexia has more possibilities of developing strange eating habits. This could be habits such as refusal to eat in front of others. This could also be habits like serving large meals for others but not eating themselves.
Another eating disorder is called bulimia. A person who is suffering from bulimia will binge. They will at times as much as 20,000 calories at a time. After that they purge for getting rid of the calories. Binge eating offers bulimics with a short lived feeling of comfort. After that they have a feeling of self loathing. After they consume, they tend to use many methods to purge their foods. This is fine through methods like vomiting, excessive exercise, inappropriate use of laxatives and diuretics.
The symptoms of bulimia are tougher to detect. A person suffering from bulimia can have normal weight. However, in reality they could be under weight. Bulimics tend to also become more aware of their problem. They take help form themselves. The reasons and causes of bulimia are not really known. Some people believe that such individuals have low self esteem. They also have a fear of becoming fat.
Some of the symptoms of bulimia include tooth decay, weight fluctuation, frequent bathroom visits after eating. It also includes secretive eating, vomiting, abuse of diuretics and laxatives. Some of the more serious symptoms include irregular menstrual cycle, stomach ulcers and irregular heart beat.
Binge eating is an eating disorder and more of a serious form. Binge eating is like easting excessive amounts of food at one single time. People suffering from this disorder do not purge after a binge. Such people simply lose control. They may also consume many calories at a time. People who usually binge are overweight. Binging is followed by people who have feelings of guilt, worthlessness and depression.
